The NHS employs over a million staff in thousands of locations. It is a large and complex organisation providing a broad range of services. It is not surprising that sometimes you or a loved one may feel bewildered or concerned when using the NHS. And this can be at times when you are feeling at your most vulnerable and anxious.
So, what should you do if you want on the spot help when using the health service? The NHS expects all members of staff to listen and respond to you to the best of their ability. But sometimes, you may wish to talk to someone employed especially to help you. The Patient Advice and Liaison Service, known as PALS, has been introduced to ensure that the NHS listens to patients, their relatives, carers and friends, and answers their questions and resolves their concerns as quickly as possible.
PALS also helps the NHS to improve services by listening to what matters to patients and their loved ones and making changes, when appropriate.
In particular, PALS will:

We are a group of volunteers who meet regularly to look at how improvements can be made to the Practice that will be of benefit to all of us who are patients.
The group would like to have the views of a wide range of people as possible.
We aim to do this in two ways:
We want to make sure that all our patients are represented, so we would like people of different ages, cultures and needs to let us know their views.
The Group is not a complaints group – there are other procedures in place to deal with complaints – however, we do need your views and suggestions.
There are two suggestion boxes in the main waiting room, please use them. There are suggestion slips to be completed on the notice board at the side of the double doors leading to the doctors consulting rooms. Pleas fill a form in if you have any points about how the Practice can be improved.
The Group will try to implement any suggestions made or inform you why it may not be possible. We really value your input.
If you would like to bring a particular topic to the group’s attention for discussion, please contact Mrs C Wilson, Practice Manager who will add the item to the agenda.
